Clone of the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face
(Germanium version)
Before being bought by Dallas & Sons in 1968, those who launched the Rangemaster, the small London company Arbiter made their first Fuzz Faces in September 1966.
By happy coincidence, this coincides with the arrival of Jimi Hendrix in London and that's why it is not surprising to discover at his feet, this famous Fuzz Face during his three days of concert at the Big Apple in Munich in the month of November of the same year.
The first circuits were mounted with germanium transistors NKT275. It's hard not to notice how much the circuit looks like the Tone Bender Mk1.5, indeed it's exactly the same topology, we understand then the origin of the Fuzz Face.
Later we will see other germanium versions with AC128 transistors like the one I present below and others with silicon transistors that we will see later...
